Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Shelton Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, the information available to us is the content of your message, which is used to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Our hosting provider records ordinary server-log details such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time stamps. Those details may be reviewed in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which Shelton reference pages are used. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Information Is Used
The purposes are limited to operating the reference, diagnosing problems, measuring traffic, and improving its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles from this information.
External Record Resources
Pages may link to the Shelton City/Town Clerk, MapXpress, Connecticut Judicial Branch and DPH portals, the Shelton Library System, the Connecticut State Library, and third-party search tools. Each outside service controls its own collection and privacy practices. Its policy, rather than this one, governs information submitted directly to that service, including information entered into sponsored results supplied by a third party.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and other service providers may process the server-log information needed to support the reference. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires disclosure, and otherwise is not disclosed by us.
Security and Retention
The connection is encrypted, and server logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above require. Shelton Residents Directory has no user accounts, so it does not hold a site password or account profile that could be exposed.
Children and Young Users
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor may have sent information to us, use the Contact page and we will delete what we find.
Your Connecticut Privacy Choices
Depending on your circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a website keeps about you. Connecticut's Data Privacy Act, enacted as SB 6 and codified in CGS Chapter 743jj, also describes rights to learn about processing and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, and certain profiling, subject to its coverage and exemptions. The Connecticut Attorney General's Data Privacy Act information and the text of CGS Chapter 743jj provide the controlling details.
Because this reference keeps little information, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs, then removing information that belongs to us. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by Shelton, Fairfield County historical repositories, or Connecticut agencies are outside our control. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, CGS ยงยง1-200 through 1-242, governs access to public-agency records, not deletion of a valid deed, court record, voter record, or vital record; removal or correction questions must go to the custodian.
Policy Changes
When this policy changes, the revised text will be posted here. Continued use of Shelton Residents Directory after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
